The state of Florida thinks transpeople who change their gender marker on their Florida drivers license are presenting misleading and fraudulent information on a state government issued document. The state is using this as grounds to criminally charge and revoke the drivers license of any transperson who wants to get a new Florid driver's license specifically to change their gender marker.
This comes after the Florida House Select Committee on Health Innovation approved a bill that requires driver's licenses to display the licensee's sex assigned at birth rather than gender identity.
This is yet another senseless attack on transpeople. Florida or any other state should not have the legal right to police, surveil and track trans bodies. Transpeople are citizens of this country and to have our rights violated, because the state doesn't like who we are ignores our right for "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."
